I knew before I spoke at AAQGO last week that they had at least 2 wonderful members but I quickly found out that the guild is full of wonderful, creative, caring and fun quilters. It was an amazing afternoon spent with my favorite people – other quilters.
Be sure to check out their special exhibit – Neighborhoods Coming Together: Quilts Around Oakland – happening in multiple venues now through October 27. For the full list of dates and places visit their website www.AAQGO.org. You might also want to listen to Michael Krasny’s March 1st interview with 4 of the members. It was amazing – I listened to it at least 3 times and learned something new each time.
Continuing the theme of quilt shows, Friday, April 8, is the opening reception for the 5th Annual Stitch Modern Quilt Show, from 6:30-9pm at the Piedmont Center for the Arts. I’ve been a faithful attendee of the show over the years. And now I can say I have a quilt in the show!
And one final item – today is the last day of the first quarter of 2016. I have only one “finish” from the list I made in January when I linked up with Finish-Along 2016. You can read the story and see pictures of my finished quilt is on my new website – fernroycequilting.com.
Although I fully expect the second quarter of 2016 to be as busy as the first – including a college graduation and more teaching – I am making a longer list of projects to finish for Q2. Call me crazy or deluded – either word works – but I prefer optimistic.
Just a reminder – although I will post a review of Stitch Modern on this site in the next week or so, most of my regular posts will on my new website. I hope you’ll join me there!
